I stayed away from it for so long. So long. I tried. And then I found some sailormoon blogs and it was over.

I have one now. I like it.    thisistab.tumblr.com/

The truth is I've never been comfortable posting sketches and drabbles on devart. Not really. Probably because I've had it for so long, devart is my place for posting more finished stuff. I just feel guilty putting up anything else. Tumblr is more bloggish, so I feel better tossing everygoddamnedthing on it. The stuff I have there so far is mostly realmedia doodles that I've taken pictures of using my phone.

So come look at it if you like.

MARIOMARATHON.

Mon Jun 25, 2012, 1:13 PM
So, MarioMarathon is still running! Three days and counting!

If you haven't yet, go donate.

----->www.mariomarathon.com/<-----

If you don't know what MarioMarathon is, the idea is pretty simple.

Dudes play Mario games non stop for as long as people donate money. (Here's their FAQ if you wanna give a read! www.mariomarathon.com/faq.html)
The charity benefited is Child's Play www.childsplaycharity.org/ which is one of my favorite things to pitch money at.

Come watch them play with me and give them some cash. We can buys games for sick kids, and make some strangers endure the worst parts of Mario Sunshine together.

Yeah.

I've been trying to get away from the "girl who only wears black tshirts with nerd stuff on them" trope I've built for myself. But I couldn't pass this up.

GODDAMNIT by tabbykat

So.

Last week, a friend of mine thumps on my door at 7am. "TAB! Someone hit you car!"

"Whua...?" Says Tab, still in pajama mode. "Oh. Oh shit!"

A quick trot and I see THAT. ^

Turns out, at some point that night, some douchenugget slammed into my poor baby so hard, that when s/he backed away they left a CHUNK OF THEIR FRONT BUMPER AND HOOD (not to mention the obliterated bits of one entire headlight) lodged into my rear driver's side wheel well. And then, of course, sped off into the night.

I'm a little bitter.

No one heard anything, and I did report it to the police. They were kind enough to stop by and take a look at the damage instead of just having me phone it in, which was rather nice of them. The bastard left enough chunks that they were able to id the vehicle as a Toyota Corolla, but not what year and definitely not a vehicle identification number. And in a city this size, it will likely never be found.

But I can sleep easy on one bit of info.

My baby has to have her rear bits repaired.... but who ever hit me? That car is totaled. The police were surprised that they even puttered away from the scene. Karma, bitch.

The fallout of the event will be much more important and facinating than the event itself, I believe. But still, watch the news.

Soooo... Sup.

Thu Mar 10, 2011, 12:28 AM
How's it hanging y'all.

I'm back. Not in a big way, but I'm here. Anticlimactic, I know. What it pretty much comes down to is I have reached a secure, happy place right now, and I feel safe sticking my toes in the internet after a year or two of madness.

Well, what I thought was madness. Ending a 7 year relationship, leaving school, moving out for the first time, having credit accounts hacked, my first car dying... That stuff's pretty apocalyptic to me. But not nearly enough for the rumor mill. Allow me to number the events I have heard some attribute to my disappearance:

1) I was in trouble with the law, and fled/entered prison.
2) I laundered multiple thousands of dollars in commission money and ran off to Mexico.
3) I had contracted some kind of terminal illness, and was either languishing in the hospital in true moe style, or died.
4) I committed suicide.

Ooooookay. Perhaps someone getting into my paypal isn't nearly as scary as I thought.

To put all of that to bed (because discussion of this very thing helped derail a perfectly good goth thread elsewhere), I'm alive. The most I have owed in back-commission money is 50 bucks. (Most of which has already been settled and accounted for, however I am missing the contact info for two people. You know who you are. If you sent me money and you haven't got it back or a picture, note me with a description of what you ordered for identification purposes and you will be refunded immediately.) The greatest detriment to my health is a cavity. And the worst things on my criminal record are speeding and evading the fashion police.

Cool? Cool.

I'll be posting again soon. My /34/ stuff will still not be available in this gallery. That is all.

Also:
Sasha. I just got paint tool SAI. And it's your fault.

ALSO also:
When the hell did I get a DD? GodDAMN! I mean wow. WOW.
I mean, can I put that shit in my resume?!

Yo people. I'm in a bit of a fix, and one that's not likely to go away any time too soon. So I figured it was time to advertise commissions again.

Virus ridden and Slayers addicted

Thu Jul 3, 2008, 10:33 AM
VUI:VI:UFUDSOFUvasry;asjbipyqebrAAAARRRRRGGGG.

My machine caught a very, very nasty bug. The reason I haven't been up and about in a while is that I've been spending all my time fighting this thing. I'm no slouch when it comes to nuking bugs on my computer, but this thing finally has me beat. Thank god I keep nothing on my C drive but windows for this very reason.

YOU HEAR THAT YOU BASTARDS! You've won the battle, but not the war. YOU HEAR ME?! AHAHAHAHAHAHA.

...ahem.

I'm going to reformat today, so maybe I'll be able to post again from there, then.

ALSO.

NEW SLAYERS SEASON.

OH MY GOD.

SO AWESOME.

If you don't know what Slayers is, you probably wouldn't care. In the meantime, I'm dancing around like a giddy idiot after watching the first episode (no subtitles yet, but my rudimentary Japanese and context-reading abilities were good enough to figure out what the hell was going on. I'll be getting the sub later for the yummy, screaming-Lina details).

But-but-YES. LINA. GOURRY. AMELIA. ZEL...and some weird muppet thing that can cast dragonslave, but MEGUMI HAYASHIBARA RETURNS. Omgomgomg.

...I'm done now. Back to work.

< Aftermath >:

Thanks for all the well wishes everyone. =) I appreciate it.

It looks like the source of the fire was electrical. Which has us looking at our walls funny (in particular, the breaker that keeps tripping for no reason in my bathroom. Yikes!). A goodly portion of their kid's stuff went up in smoke, but the majority of their belongings survived. It also looks like the Rabbit will be fine.

It's been a nasty week. This house fire, one of my teachers got in a wreck (he's fine, thank god), summer flu being passed around, etc. WHEW. What a way to start finals!

< / Aftermath >

The appartment next to us is on fire.

This is not the way I intended to get out of the house today.

Edit:

Wi-fi is your friend. I got out of the house fine, with mom, step-dad and cat+dog in tow.
The only casuality was a small, orange kitten. This is perfect example of why stupid people shouldn't have pets.

My mother had the following conversation with the woman who lives in that appartment, while we were outside, watching the smoke pour out.

"Did everyone get out alright?"
"Yeah."
"Do you have any pets?"
"No.. uh.. yes. A cat."
"Where is the cat?"
"Inside... he was running around.."

Yes. He was running around. That's an excellent reason not to grab a couple-month-old kitten. Did I say that she neglected to mention that they also had a rabbit? Who was in a small wire hutch, and who they also left inside? Thankfully, the rabbit was far enough from the source of the fire that it did not die of smoke inhalation.

I'm back in my house now, but we're not supposed to go out for a while, while the firemen investigate the source.

Another rant. Last, I promise!

Sat May 3, 2008, 3:57 AM
So. The finalists and the grand prize winner were announced for The World Ends With You contest. I was really jazzed that my favorite entry got the top spot, and suprised and pleased that I managed to place as well.

But then I let myself get dragged into an internet fight. I have no idea what kind of crack I was on.

But really, a couple of things really did manage to upset me.

One was saying that the entire thing was nothing but a popularity contest.
I didn't understand that bit, particularly because at least four of the ten selected had less than 5,000 page views. One had less than 100 when I checked.
But then on top of that, someone else claimed that those people were only chosen to counterbalance the claims that only popular deviants won.

That burned my tail. Look. To imply that some of those people won out of pity was out of line to me. I lost my cool and had to leave the keyboard and calm down for a moment. Both of the entrants that placed that were below the 500 page view line submitted designs for the "lackey" monsters of the game, the noise. They weren't the flashiest of the entries, but they really looked like they'd come fresh out of the game. If I saw those designs in the official artbook for WEWY (The World Ends With You), I wouldn't bat an eyelash.

I might have chosen something different if I were a judge, I can't say for sure, but I can see no reason why they shouldn't place. It's damned good work. And insulting them by calling them something akin to placeholders is really goddamn rude.

Secondly, someone mentioned the idea that everyone should have gotten something from the contest. I think a participation award would have been an excellent idea, particularly due to the promotional nature of the contest. Something like an exclusive wallpaper, or some highres art would have been just dandy in my opinion.

But this person suggested a 6 month devart subscription for each participant.
There are over 7,000 entries! All the bandwidth that would suddenly eat is mindboggling. Plus, as :iconlolly: put it, at 3$ per subscription, that's  over 21,000 dollars worth of subscriptions as participation gifts! Yow.

There were a lot of other small things, but that really soured my stomache. There was a lot of butthurt just when this contest started up, and now there seems to be even more now that it's over.

...Anyway, I'm getting my wisdom teeth cut out in less than five hours. I'm going to go take a nap while I can.

And thank you to everyone so far that has sent a "congrats!" my way. I really appreciate it. =)

EDIT II Hey! I got one of the 10 prize packs! S'been a good day. I hope the developers liked it.

EDIT Dude. When did I hit 100k views? Awesome stuff.

Whoa. Ok.

So. I've been wandering off devart for a while. School's reving up and and I'm getting my wisdom teeth out this weekend and all that jazz.

Anyway, I log on today because the calendar stared at me, and I stared back. "IRONMAN day! Sweeeeet. Oh.. wait.. what else was today? Oh yeah. that contest thing."

So, to meander to the page for The World Ends With You Contest, to see if they posted the winners (not yet. poo.). And on a lark, I scroll through the comments. Holy shit. There was more freaking out going on in there than I was prepared for. Most of it was "WAAAH, the Prizes suck! My art is worth more than that! SquareEnix is going to steal my designs!"

And after my mental ears stopped ringing from the sheer amount of digital screaming going on, I sat back and decided to express my own opinion on this shit. So, feel free to stop reading now. There's not any pressing news after this paragraph. Only a very wordy monologue.

Yes. Art is worth more than that. Design is worth more than that. Lots more.

For example, one of my professors threw up his latest invoice for some perspective. For an Identity Package (Logo, business card, letter head, webpage design (not programming!), envelope), he ended up with 1,500 dollars. And he was bidding way low. Usually he would hit 3,000 at least. I don't know what the special circumstances were that got him at that price, but I know that they were special, and not likely to happen again. Good design is not something that can be entirely taught. It's a talent and a rare gift that deserves to be well compensated for.

That being said, if anyone drew any rockawesome designs for this contest exclusively for the prizes, you are an idiot.

Yes. I entered the contest. Yes, I would like to get a copy of the game and another six months on my devart subscription, and yes I do think that having some critique thrown my way form people in the industry spot I want to occupy one day would be awesome.

But I did not make that character sheet just for that contest.

I saw the promotional stuff for The World Ends With You quite a while ago. I liked the art style. The game looked like fun. My immediate response was to start throwing around some designs in my head. I like to make fan characters. I like playing with new worlds, both of my own making and of others. When I got home, I started making some doodles.

Then I saw the news post for the contest. "Hey." says I, "I can toss this fanmade chicka somewhere. Cool."

I had already made this girl in my head as a tribute to the style of the game. To be able to toss it up somewhere that the people that made that game might see it was pretty sweet.

When I really enjoy something, I draw things for it. They are gifts. I give them to my favorite webcomic creators. I gave one to Neil Gaimen. If they wanted to use it for tshirts of whatever, I'd be cool with that. I'd want my name attached to it if I could, but I gave it to them. It was an expression of how much I like their creation. They can use it how they please.

I'm not saying that it should be that way for everyone.

But personally, I'm not relating too closely to all the butthurt circulating.

tl:dr : There seems to be a lot of RAGE for something I thought was understood.

TWO dresses?!

Wed Jan 23, 2008, 4:00 AM
Heeeey... paid account? Sweet.

School has started up again. The work load is heavy, considering that I only have three classes.

This winter has been full of...er.. well, stuff. I'm going to be published in a "best of" selection of works from one of my teachers, my tablet was broken and replaced, two friends I like very much went North and returned, and some how I got myself wrangled into two weddings.

....

Two Weddings.

Brr. Anyone that knows me a bit at all is aware that I loathe the things. Pretty to look at, and torture to participate in. Expensive flounces of extravagance that seem to be as much about convincing the couple that they are in love as anyone else. I think that if I have one, it will be little more than an excuse to throw flowers and food at all the relatives I dislike at once.

And somehow I got myself into a bridesmaid dress at one wedding, and into the best man spot in the other!

Doug! Phae! Chris! You fuckers are lucky I love you!

I've had some very lovely people offer theirs, but thus far none of them have been able to work with an Inuos 2 model. I appreciate it all anway, thank you guys. =)

But that pretty much means I've been forced to a bit fo a stand still. I'm tossing up the things I did manage to doodle at one time or another, and didn't upload. Blargle.

To the patient gentleman who I still owe a Commission to!

I am sorry that I wasn't able to resolve the wacom issue as soon as I thought. Finances have made it rather impossible. I will complete the image requested the moment I regain the ability. It will be free of charge, in order to make up for your long wait. Thank you!

Also, happy holidays to all you nutbags. I'm gonna go stuff myself on things my relatives sent and drown myself in cocoa. My winter picture will have to wait!
